Photography from David and Nina’s Vanderkamp fall wedding elopement in the Adirondack foothills<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a cold and rainy fall day for photography in the Adirondacks, but somehow it seemed love quite literally kept us warm during David and Nina’s wedding elopement at Vanderkamp. The couple rented the ultra cozy, Langston Cottage for the weekend, and got ready together. This cottage features perfect dark, moody vibes for a fall wedding with it’s fireplace, comfy reading nook and gorgeous views of the foliage from its big windows. The couple was also joined by their adorable dogs who couldn’t be more different in terms of aesthetic and demeanor, but hey, opposites attract. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve been seeing couples get ready for their wedding together more and more in recent years. I love this trend for the fact that it makes some of the sweetest pictures, like these images of David helping Nina with her hair, but also because it allows couples to spend the full day together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Langston Cottage at Vanderkamp has some of the coziest nooks for elopement photography with it’s perfect old Adirondack vibes. I could have made pictures in here all day. But alas, this was a day for shorter wedding coverage, so we moved things along. It’s really amazing how many images you can make in a short period or time with a crew this small though!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the great honors of being a wedding photographer is being chosen by one of your own. I’ve Internet-known David for years through the wedding photography industry, as he’s a former wedding photographer himself. While he’s primarily focused on interior design these days, knowing that he *really* knows what to look for when shopping photographers makes me feel extra special to be chosen. (: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

David brought along his film camera to make a few pictures of his own throughout the day, and I just loved making this image of David in his element while photographing Nina. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I arrived in the Adirondacks on elopement day, David and Nina hadn’t yet picked the spot at Vanderkamp for their wedding ceremony to take place. We walked around the property and found this intimate mossy nook next to Vanderkamp Lake. It felt perfect. We called their parents and told them where to find us, and the ceremony was soon underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having the moms sign the marriage license on a rock at Vanderkamp seemed like the most Adirondack elopement photography move we could make. And so it was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adirondack Lake vibes abound at Vanderkamp for the couples elopement portrait photography<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While David and Nina’s parents went back to the boathouse at Vanderkamp to prepare for dinner, the couple and I ventured around the property to make some wedding portraits. David and Nina weren’t too hung up on photography, they really just wanted the vibes of their Adirondack elopement captured in a casual way. I love this approach. I really like to keep wedding portraits feeling organic and natural anyway, not overly posed and dramatic. I keep couples moving when possible and interacting in a way that feels true to their personalities. So needless to say I was thrilled to work with a couple who shared this vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We finished up David and Nina’s Adirondack elopement photography coverage at the Boathouse at Vanderkamp where their parents were staying. David made cocktails and dinner for the crew and the couple’s parents made a quick toast before I left them to imbibe together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
