I’ve heard of engagement photography sessions being referred to as “third wheel” sessions in the past and always thought that was a funny way to think about the process. But these words suddenly rang truer than ever when Katrina, Dave and I started brainstorming ideas for their engagement portraits. They basically went on an adorable date and I was the creepy tag-a-long with the camera. Lots of laughter and love ensued and I was lucky enough to be able to capture it all (and even share some ice cream!). Can’t wait to photograph their wedding next September! And props to Katrina for carrying that kayak in heels!
Thank you SO much for such an incredible experience and amazingly beautiful photos. I couldn’t have asked for a better photographer, date day, or collection of photos of us. You are the absolute best! xo
Dana Jones – Maple Grove High School Senior Portraits – Bemus Point, NY
I recently photographed this senior portrait photography session with Dana in her charming home town, Bemus Point, near Buffalo, NY. Dana is a senior at Maple Grove High School this year and before she left for college at Houghton, she really wanted to pay homage to some of the beautiful, natural scenery in her area. We spent the majority of our session in Long Point State Park. This sweet little park has a variety of backdrops for photography including stone and wood structures, fields, forest and even Lake Chautauqua. The setting certainly did not disappoint.
These first few images were taken in a nearby field that overlooks Lake Chautauqua. I’ve photographed a few sessions in this random field now (check out another one here!) and it never disappoints. The light is so beautiful late in the day and it really makes for the perfect backdrop for a senior portrait photography session. If you look closely, you can see Lake Chautauqua in the valley below the field. As a photographer, I can’t ask for anything more!
On to Long Point State Park for more pictures! I’m not sure why these stone steps to nowhere exist, but they make for a great spot to pose for senior portraits. Perhaps they were part of an original foundation for a building that used to be in the park!
I’m pretty sure this laughter was the result of Dana fleeing a swarm of mosquitoes, but it makes for a cute photo anyway! (:
Thanks for having me as your senior portrait photographer Dana! And best of luck next year at Houghton!
